Ruth Weaver is a Medical Herbalist practicing and teaching the ancient art and science of herbal medicine in the beautiful lands of Cornwall. Ruths practice has supported hundreds of people in the community and beyond since her enterprise ‘Apothecary Forager’ was founded in 2012.
Ruth offers holistic healthcare both in the community and internationally using a personalised and functional approach. Ruth also shares educational talks, workshops and courses – empowering people with the knowledge to support their health with medicinal plants.
Ruth believes that plant medicine is our sacred birthright. Humans have evolved with plant medicines since the beginning of time – therefore our bodies recognise and respond to the unique wild chemistry of plants (compounds from which make up around 60% of modern medications).
Our (not so distant) ancestors used plant medicine as their primary form of healthcare and many cultures still do. Sharing this herbal knowledge is where Ruths passion truly lies – Ruth believes that returning to this practice is a vital step towards restoring our connection to nature. In reclaiming our indigenous medicine we also reawaken the sacred origins of our species.
In 2009 Ruth moved to Scotland to embark on a 4 year study of Herbal Medicine at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine in Glasgow where she learnt from herbalists and experts from all over the world. Ruth completed her Herbal Medicine BSc. (Hons) at Lincoln University in 2012. Ruth is fully insured under Balens Insurance Ltd.
